Karen Blixen

Karen Blixen, née Dinesen, (17 April 1885 - 7 September 1962) was a Danish writer, (also known under the pseudonym Isak Dinesen). She was born in Rungsted, Denmark and lived in Kenya from 1914 to 1931, where she ran a coffee plantation.

Blixen's best-known work is "Mit Afrika", an autobiographical account of her life and experiences in Kenya. The book was published in 1937 and has since been one of the most recognized and beloved depictions of colonial experiences in Africa.

In addition, Karen Blixen also wrote short stories and stories that, among other things, a. were collected in the book "Syv fantastic tales". Her stories are known for their fantastical elements, poetry and lyrical beauty.

Karen Blixen was a controversial figure in her time, both because of her lifestyle and her writing. But today she is recognized as one of the most influential writers of the 20th century and an icon in the literary world.
